Something as simple – and therefore brilliant – as functional fames for children drawings is what has made Marie-Louise and Thomas dream of becoming entrepreneurs true. They started RAM’N when they found out, that the prototype they made for all the funny and beautiful drawings they got from their girls, was a solid good idea to put in production. They really thought that the drawings deserved to be presented in a nice way and furthermore quick and easy – as most parents do!
Thomas, who is trained cabinetmaker as well as a certified designer sat up a small workshop in the basement and began to try out the different ideas he had on how to present children’s drawings in a nice way. The first 25 frames were made made by himself and they were hung up with friends who had children, to find out if they would work.
Now a skilled carpenter named Poul Henning which operates PH cabinet making factory in Eskildstrup, Falster, is doing the woodwork, while Thomas is making the finishing with the mechanism. It is their goal to continue to produce RAM’N by hand in Denmark.
“RAM’N picture frames is a product that has emerged to show our children that we love them and everything they do (almost). Therefore it was natural to choose materials that pollute the environment and the world to be taken over as little as possible. We would for example not use wood from rainforests or hazardous materials. And a RAM’N is produced as a little piece of furniture which becomes more beautiful with age, and the longer we have the items we acquire, the better for the environment”, Thomas and Marie-Louise states.
”We have just emerged as entrepreneurs and RAM’N is our first product. We aim to find more solutions which will make the life with children a little bitt funnier and easier. And we will continue to do so in the spirit of the Danish crafts tradition and the love of good materials,“ they continue.
RAM’N is produced in oak, smoked oak, maple and black varnished pine
