VEJRHØJ is founded by the young entrepreneur, Janus Aarup, who set out to create a collection of handmade wooden watches based on his passion for design, craftsmanship and timepieces. VEJRHØJ lends its name from the high hillsides next to the sea where Janus grew up.
The first small collection of handmade wooden watches was created in late 2013 when Janus was working on his master’s thesis regarding the rise of Danish design in North America. This is where the story of VEJRHØJ began as it made him wonder why Nordic fondness for wood, craftsmanship and simple elegance never had found its way into the world of watches.
In the summer 2014 Janus teamed up with one of the grand old men of Danish design, Bo Bonfils, known for his classic Georg Jensen designs. They have spent the last year designing, building and testing a new line of VEJRHØJ watches in which they combine wood and steel with a distinctive maritime touch without compromising our commitment to Nordic design culture.
The result is the VEJRHØJ NAUTIC collection, which is crafted from natural hardwood and merged with steel, high quality Swiss made movements and sapphire crystal glass. With its distinctive dial and bevelled edge glass, the design draws inspiration from old navigational instruments and our Nordic maritime heritage.
The VEJRHØJ ELEMENTS collection is crafted from oak and zebra wood, and are slim wood watches also with high quality Swiss made movements.
