The brand THOSETHINGSHANDMADE equals high quality handmade textiles. The designer Laura Jørgensen works with different textile techniques, mainly weaving, dyeing, printing, embroidery and sewing. She has a small studio located in Copenhagen. All items are carefully handcrafted, and they are made to last. The items are always prepared in pure natural materials such as wool, linen and cotton. She tries to keep the filling of the items in natural materials and where possible OEKO-TEX® certified.
Some of Lauras signature designs are made with a hand sewn decoration called smocking. It is a embroidery technique, that has been used for centuries on clothes, both for functional purposes and decoration. This particular type derives from North America. It is called Canadian smocking, and is embroidered by hand. The fabric is pulled together by stitches creating the pleats that make a lovely 3D pattern.
