MUD upcycled porcelain design is a collection of ceramic designs made with upcycled porcelain plates. Creative images and illustrations are transferred to the surface and burned in a furnace. Susanne Søllund who owns MUD is a ceramic artist, textile designer and costume designer. She primarily works with sculpturing and creates imaginative stories with a mix of humor and dark undertones. Often her works are a mix of ceramics and textiles.
MUD is also a pop-up shop in Svaneke during the summer holidays on the island of Bornholm. With great success Susanne Søllund has had workshops, where customers can design their own ceramics from up-cycled porcelain. Subsequently she has had many requests from teachers who wish to use the material in their class rooms.
Susanne loves how her concept, which is also known as Save the Plates, is a contrast to the use-and-throw-away culture that has consequences for both the environment and people. She is driven by bringing awareness of the environment white enjoying using her skills and creativity.
